How to Keep Your Skin Hydrated During the Winter

If you have naturally dry skin in the winter, it can feel impossible to make sure your skin is constantly hydrated without applying a hydration mist or moisturiser 24/7! At Bonds Skin Clinic in Northampton, we know everyone would love to have dewy skin all year round so we have collated the best tips, facials and treatments to keep your skin fresh and glowy in the coming winter months.

Moisturise Day and Night

This one seems quite an obvious one, however, moisturising in the winter is tip number one to glowy winter skin. The cold and dry air weakens your skin barrier, leaving you with dry and sometimes in more extreme cases flaky, cracking and peeling skin. A way to combat this is by moisturising your face in the morning and at night straight after cleansing. Washing your face strips the skin of its natural oils so it's always vital to replace them. The best time to moisturise is whilst your skin is damp as your skin locks in the product much better. Moisturising is perfect for any kind of skin, so for that refreshed look in the winter, moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! At Bonds Skin Clinic, we use a range of high end products, wonderful for delivering moisture to all levels of the skin.

Washing your Face in Lower Water Temperatures

If you wash your face in the shower whilst it's hot, it could be a better decision to opt for the tap instead! Studies have shown that lukewarm water is the perfect temperature to wash your face in. This is because of the hot water stripping oils that cause breakouts, which may trigger the skin into producing even more of these oils, causing worse breakouts. If you have chronically dry skin, hot water can strip the sebum and worsen these issues. Lower temperatures also de-puff and reduce the appearance of pores. Lower water temperatures are clearly the skin's favourite! It's more important than ever in the winter to use lower water temperatures to clean your face to make sure we are consistently replenishing the natural oils.

Keep Skin Hydrated with a Bonds Skin Clinic Hydration Facial

Of course, if you would rather completely hydrate your skin through a luxury facial, that's a perfect choice. At Bonds Skin Clinic in Northampton, we offer a Hydracure Intense Hydration Facial with Peel! This facial is a deeply hydrating treatment for dehydrated skin. After just 1 treatment, 100% of clients have more hydrated skin*. This is achieved through our unique “hydractive” blend of ingredients including hyaluronic acid and natural spring water from the Izumo Yumura thermal spring in Japan. Your skin is provided with the natural healing ability to retain moisture after getting this facial so we'd highly recommend!

We also offer a Deepening Peel and Extraction which is essentially an instant exfoliation peel to renew the skin at the deepest level. Formulated with Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), wrinkles and pigmentation are reduced and the skin is left more balanced and hydrated, enhancing the effects of subsequent treatments.

A few extra tips worth noting include staying hydrated and making sure to always gently cleanse. Maybe consider moving away from harsher products to make way for more gentle skin care products in the colder months.

We hope this gives you an insight into how to keep your skin rosy and fresh in the winter months and say goodbye to dry skin! Book an appointment to come down to our Northampton clinic to get a tailored facial that will help give your skin a hydration boost this winter.
